You must supply suitable evidence that you meet the English language requirement for your course unless you are a national of and have always been resident in a majority English-speaking country as defined by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
The English language proficiency tests we accept are:
• The International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
• The Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL ibt)
• The Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
• The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE).
Your test must have been taken within two years of the start of the course you are applying to. For further information and details of the minimum test scores required, please consult the English language requirements section of our Application Guide.
Please note that applicants are not required to provide evidence of English language proficiency at the point of application. Your application will still be considered by the academic department without it, as long as all other required documents have been submitted. Any offer of a place will require you to subsequently submit English language test results at the required level by a deadline set by the department in their offer letter.
It is also possible to request a waiver from the requirement to provide English language scores as part of the application process. For more information on eligibility and how to do this, please visit the relevant FAQ.
